Two works by artist César Orrico will be sent to the Moon
10 December 2023 · NASA, United StatesThe two sculptures by Spanish artist César Orrico awarded at the 16th International ARC Salon have been included in the Lunar Codex, The Polaris Collection. Art images will be laser-etched on nickel microfiche and digitized on terabyte memory cards and enclosed in a time capsule on the Griffin lunar lander, launched by SpaceX, and placed on the Moon in perpetuity. The Lunar Codex is a set of time capsules launched on three NASA-related missions, including the work of 7,000 creatives. Headed for the Lunar South Pole, the launch is currently scheduled for the winter of 2023.

Inauguration of the Bust of Clara del Rey, Spanish Heroine, in Madrid
30 March 2023 · Madrid, SpainThe Madrid City Council has unveiled a bust in honour of Clara del Rey on Las Comendadoras Square. The cast bronze sculpture is the work of César Orrico, a young contemporary figurative artist who was recently awarded the Reina Sofía Painting and Sculpture Prize. The artist has produced a portrayal of this historical figure for whom no portraits have come down to us, a work that conveys the stoicism of the people of Madrid and embodies the strength of character and bravery of the women who fought in the 1808 uprisings.

César Orrico wins the 58th Reina Sofía Painting and Sculpture Prize

César Orrico winner of the First and Second Place for Sculpture at the 16th International ARC Salon

The artist César Orrico wins the Prix Jean Asselbergs awarded by the Taylor Foundation in Paris

It supports artistic creation and works to spread familiarity with the arts by organising exhibitions, handing out grants, and awarding prizes. The Prix Jean Asselbergs for young artists is awarded serially for sculpture, engraving, and drawing and this year was won by the sculptor César Orrico. The exhibition opened with the award ceremony on 24 June and will display works by the 23 winners of the 2019 Taylor Foundation Grand Prix through 13 July.

All these concepts are handled with great authority by the authors that this sample gathers. The sculptures presented by EP9 direct the viewer’s contemplation towards a slightly voluptuous interior that catches their gaze and immediately becomes captivated by them. They act as a motor of thought creating an expansive wave that feeds the pleasure of the senses. Perhaps the title “Beauty” fits more precisely as it approaches the inexhaustible source of aesthetic fact. We have finally decided to round off our title as “The Beauty Offered”.
